Data set has been visually inspected. All data produced strives to meet National Mapping Accuracy Standards (NMAS).
Watercourses included in this coverage meet the definition for altered watercourses as set forth in the "Environmentally Sensitive Areas /Greenways Mapping Project" proposal, May, 1996. An altered watercourse is a watercourse that is either unnatural or one that has been ditched, dredged, or otherwise topographically altered to the extent that the benefits of a natural system have been significantly changed. This is interpreted to include watercourses that are without the benefit of wetland functioning. It is also interpreted that the mosquito ditches qualify as altered wetlands. Altered watercourse features were extracted from the ESA watercourse coverage ":/edb/esa/watercourse" following a review for features without wetland. To do so, the identity command was operated to intersect watercourse and wetland coverages. Supplemental_Information: Watercourse features were delineated through the use of remote sensing and topographic analysis with limited field verification. Site specific survey is needed to verify exact placement of watercourse.
