Lake Jackson Zone Definition: (Updating to fit new contour data.) Zone A: 100 ft Zone B: 110 ft The Lake Jackson SDZs don't apply to the closed basins south of US27. These areas fit the elevation criteria, but don't drain to Lake Jackson. Methodology: Using ArcCatalog Model Builder, Lidar Contour Extractor Model 1)Make Feature Layer Tool - "ELEV" = 100 from ctour88_ne.shp to extract the 100 Ft. contours for the Lake Jackson area. 2)Copy Features Tool extracted 100 ft. contours to a new feature class 3)Make Feature Layer Tool - "ELEV" = 100 from ctour88_nw.shp to extract the 100 Ft. contours for the Lake Jackson area. 4)Copy Features Tool extracted 100 ft. contours to a new feature class 5) Merge the two feature class sets together into one 6) Dissolve 7) By hand clean out un needed contours 8) Eliminate areas for closed basins south of US27 Run Feature to Polygon to create a polygon feature class. Add SDZ_NAME and SDZ_TYPE columns and attributes. Lake Iamonia Zone Definition: (Updating to fit new contour data.) Add SDZ_NAME and SDZ_TYPE columns and attributes. Bradford Brook Zone Definition: (Updating to fit new contour data.) Zone A: 40 ft Zone B: 60 ft There are a number of places where the SDZ boundary is stopped at a road centerline; namely Roberts Ave, Capital Circle SW, and Springhill Rd.-Lake Bradford Rd. There are some isolated closed basins that should be excluded. Fred George Zone Definition: (Definition changed) Zone A: 104 (There is only one zone for Fred George.) Using ArcCatalog Model Builder, Lidar Contour Extractor Model Make Feature Layer Tool - "ELEV" = 104 from ctour88_nw.shp to extract the 104 Ft. contours for the Fred George area. Copy Features Tool extracted 104 ft. contours to a new feature class. By hand clean out un needed contours. Run Feature to Polygon to create a polygon feature class. Add SDZ_NAME and SDZ_TYPE columns and attributes. Lake McBride Zone Definition: (New SDZ) Zone A: 143.3 Zone A is defined by the 100 yr floodplain around the lake, PLUS a 50 ft buffer adjacent to watercourses and waterbodies, (there will be places where the 50' buffer will extend beyond the 100 yr floodplain boundary), PLUS... regions with > 10% slopes AND a soil Kfactor of > 0.2 contiguous with and not extending more than 200 ft (distance not elev) upland of the 100 year floodplain boundary. Zone B: Extends from the upper boundary of Zone A to a buffer 200 ft (distance not elev) upland of 100 yr floodplain. Methodology: Zone A: 100 Yr Flood: The Lidar Clipper application was used to extract a TIN model for Lake McBride. The TIN to Contour tool was used to interpolate a contour for the 100Yr flood elevation (143.3 Ft Per T. Ballentine) around the lake. The Smooth Line tool was used with a PAEK algorithm and smoothing tolerance set to 18ft. The buffer tool was used to create a 200 foot buffer polygon around the 100 year flood elevation. Slopes: Select By Location was used to select qualifying slopes (grade20_88.shp) that were contiguous with the 100 Yr Flood Plain. Clip was used to clip the selected features to the 200 ft buffer created above. Soils: Clip was used to clip all soils (soil.shp) within the 200 ft buffer created for Zone B below. Add Field was used to add a field named K_FACTOR (type=float, precision=6, scale=2). The Calculate Field tool was used to populate the new field with K Factors to each soil type in the clipped feature class (The "USDA Soil Survey of Leon County" Table 15 Physical and Chemical Properties of Soil [issued Feb 1981]). Per N. Ezzagaghi, Environmental Review Supervisor, the K Factor for the surface layer within each named soil was used. Zone B: The Buffer tool was used at a 200 ft distance from the 100 Yr Flood Plain (143.3) with the dissolve option set to ALL. The Intersect tool was used to merge Zone A and Zone B into one feature class. Lake Lafayette Zone Definition: (New SDZ) County portion, Zone A: Is the 100 year floodplain (51 Ft) and it is cut at the centerline of Chaires Cross Rd. County portion Zone B: Is 200 ft (distance not elev) upland from elevation 51. There is also a special cutoff on Alford Arm at a dam. Methodology: County portion, Zone A: The Lidar Clipper application was used to extract a TIN model for Lake Lafayette. The TIN to Contour tool was used to interpolate a 51 foot contour around the lake. The Smooth Line tool was used with a PAEK algorithm and smoothing tolerance set to 18ft. The results of the smoothing operation were hand verified. Six segments that intersected the 50 or 52 Ft Merrick contour were manually edited. At the direction of John Kraynak, Director of Environmental Compliance, the 51 ft contour was manually edited at Alford Arm Dam and at the centerline for Chaires Cross Rd. To close the 51 foot contour line into a single polygon the Feature to Polygon tool was used. County portion Zone B: The Intersect tool along with sections.shp was to cut the Zone A polygon into a feature class with multiple smaller features. The Buffer tool was used on the smaller features at a 200 ft distance and with the dissolve option set to ALL. The Intersect tool was used to merge Zone A and Zone B into one feature class.
